The first thing that struck me, just from reading the sales page was that this is another attempt at promising riches whilst being lazy about it.

Sure, there’s implication that you’ll have to lift a finger here and there, but in my honest opinion, any sales page that tries to play on the fact that making money online is easy is simply not good enough.

Let me tell you the truth...

ANY system you invest in will require work, and regular amounts thereof. Now, I’m not saying this guy Craig Beckta is misleading you, it’s just that you have to try and see past the sales pitch and play on words.

I guess it’s just because I read and write alot of sales copy for myself, I can actually see the sales process as clear as a diamond. Although it might have more of an impact on newcomers, I see right through the sales pitch and want to get the facts.

Of course, that’s why I buy these products and review them. If they work, I get to boost my business and help other people make an informed decision. But again, to do this we need to get over the long winded sales letter and just cut to the chase…

Getting Under The Hood

Now we’re past the sales page, it’s time to look under the hood of this little puppy. One of the first things that struck me was the amount of content packed into this guide. I truly think that we are living in great times where the value added to these sorts of mainstream products that are released by the big name marketers is really monumental.

So let’s take a look at what you’re getting when you arrive…

“The Secret Affiliate Code”

Diving straight into the main product and I can see this is going to be one helluvah journey! But as I keep saying, it’s the quality of marketing information I’m looking for, not the size of the PDF file.

First of all, I’m hit with the clichéd motivational speech at the beginning, telling me how I need to focus and be positive. Heck, I always read these intros and it feels like I am about to run a marathon or something.

I suppose this might be useful for those with low motivation or little understanding of what it takes to make serious money online. But for those of us who know the deal already, this first part of the introduction is a little tedious.

After getting past the “pump me up” speech, I see that Craig (the product owner) beings to talk about the very basics of affiliate marketing such as -

- What is affiliate marketing?

- Where do you get accounts to promote products (even shows you how to set up a Clickbank account)

- The Clickbank rating system and general marketplace

It soon becomes clear that this product might be aimed directly at new comers to internet marketing. That’s ok however, as they haven’t said otherwise.

Immediately after the quick few pages of introductions to affiliate marketing (which do actually read quite well and are fluff free), Craig swiftly moves onto the real meat of being successful as an affiliate.

Logically, he starts with picking the right products to promote, then swiftly moves onto getting traffic to your sites.

Total Newbie Warning

What struck me was that it moves pretty quickly, which although I had no problem with as a more experienced marketer, I do feel that people who are new to the world of making money online are going to get lost pretty quickly here.

Although the information is solid, it moves far too quickly from getting your basics set up (Clickbank account, understanding how to promote products etc) and immediately throws you into things like SEO (optimizing your webpage so you can be easily found in the search engines) and also taks about PPC (paid traffic via search engine advertising models).

For me, these sections were far too brief. The problem is that they try to cater for everyone in the quickest possible time. Although I like the pace of the guide so far, I don’t like the “one size fits all” approach that we’ve been hit with already.

Let’s hope The Secret Affiliate Code makes up for this shall we?

Next we’re looking at the various affiliate marketing methods (or models as I call them). This section opened my eyes to some strategies to promote affiliate products which I found useful, and will certainly be of use to anyone who has a grip on creating (or paying to have someone create) simple web pages.

This section is so much more in-depth than the introduction and first section the guide. Here, we get screenshots and actual step-by-step processes to walk you through setting up your first killer affiliate promotion.

What I liked was the sufficient levels of technical details in regards to creating the right links, html and various other bits of simple code that anyone with a keyboard can create.

Nerds need not apply

Don’t be concerned if you’re not a web designer or programmer, the only “technical” stuff in this guide is truly simple stuff. In fact, the majority of the “technical” stuff like setting up web pages is point and click, as Craig shows you how to utilize free services like Squidoo and Blogger to create great preselling systems for your new business.

After you’re set up with a system in place to start selling affiliate products, the focus really narrows in on the all important factor of getting traffic to your web pages.

Pretty much all of the staple ways to get traffic to your site are covered in the Secret Affiliate Code, with everything from quick methods that Craig calls “Fire starters” to more long term, solid grounding methods for residual income.

At first I thought that this guide was going to be a broad guessing game to making money online as an affiliate marketer, but as I dive deeper into The Secret Affiliate Code, I begin to see that the entire guide starts to fold out and get more and more detailed.

So much so, I think once you have a fair understanding of creating a basic landing page and setting your affiliate links up, you’ve clearly got a guide here that is a detailed step by step way to make money online.

Remember how I said that affiliate marketing isn’t a walk in the park? Well, it’s easier when you know what you’re doing BUT let me tell you this:

The Secret Affiliate Code is so jam packed with things to do, it’s going to take you a good while to get up and running.

I wasn’t sure if this was a good or bad thing, because that depends on you. For example, if you were under the impression that you’d be up and running (at full speed) overnight, then you’re going to be deflated. However, if you knew that in reality it will take at least a few days of solid work, then you’re in for a step by step treat.

You see, in my opinion it’s better to have ton of step-by-step, proven and organized tasks to accomplish than it is to blindly guess your way through making your first sale (if you’re lucky).

Don’t worry about future hard work!

If you’re worried about continually going through the process of setting a new business up and it doesn’t sound like something you’d like to keep doing all by yourself…

…then once you’re making money with one campaign (which you should easily do if you follow it through and don’t skip bits out) you can take that money and pay for other people to create all the “cogs” that make the real money online, simply by instructing them as per The Secret Affiliate Code…just food for thought there :0)

Ultimately, the section on getting traffic to your site is easily the most powerful section of the guide so far, and I can honestly say that there is enough information packed into this guide to allow you to reap a seriously large amount or traffic from various places around the internet.

The great part is, almost all of the traffic methods described are free! Admittedly, some of the traffic methods will not bring result worth writing home about, but the idea is that combining all of these methods will allow you to bring in more people than you can shake a stick at, even if some of the traffic sources are poor.

Towards the end, Craig even takes the time to explain and guide you through the world of PPC advertising on Google, along with other PPC search engines too.

Personally, if you decide to go down the route of paying for clicks then I would suggest buying a separate guide that is devoted specifically to Google Adwords (yes, it really is worth it when your money is at steak!)

The last section of The Secret Affiliate Code seems a little out of place, where Craig talks about finding hidden sources of profit (new products, unheard of or very low competition products) to create more income.

To me, this should have been nearer the beginning. But never mind, the information is solid and this section alone could easily bring in an extra wage once you’ve taken the time to understand the process.

Videos Fill The Gaps AND Make It Easier…

It seems to be a growing trend to include video versions of your written guides these days. I’m not complaining however, as this really can make the difference between guessing, getting bored and missing the point, to truly raking in some extra cash pretty quickly.

The Secret Affiliate Code videos are very intuitive and well made. There seems to be a video section about PLR marketing which doesn’t seem to be included in the written guide, which I really liked.

If you’re not familiar with PLR, all will be explained in the guide. Basically, PLR is a great way to enter markets with products that have been pre-made by other people, which you can claim full resale rights to. This cuts out the legwork of creating your own products and allows you to take home allot more profits at the end of the day.

This video does seem to be a little out of place in relation to the overall theme of The Secret Affiliate Code, as it has nothing to do with affiliate marketing. Very odd.

However, do not overlook this video! This is golden and can easily allow you to churn out a second income online during your affiliate marketing activities.

What also struck me about the videos is that they cover all of the things that I mentioned as being short on at the beggining of this review. I don’t understand why Craig left things out of the written guide, but included them in the videos.

Either way, we’ve now turned almost full circle and we’re looking at a complete video package that literally walks you though the entire process, including all of the nitty gritty details that you absolutely must know in order to succeed online.

It’s crazy how much more content is included in the videos. It’s almost like a bigger brother, elite version of The Secret Affiliate Code. Looks like this product might be saving itself from the early wounds it received at the start of this review. Take a look for yourself and you’ll soon see what I’m talking about…

Summary Of The Secret Affiliate Code

Clearly, this guide is not perfect. The biggest issue I had was with the inconsistency between skill levels that this guide is aimed at. On one hand you’re taken through the basic steps of setting up a Clickbank account and then a few minutes later you’re being shown the more advanced techniques to search engine optimization.

However, the videos more than compensate for this shortfall of the written guide and quite honestly blows the written guide out of the water.

The amount of content within the guide is very healthy, and I was particularly impressed with the good dosage of traffic tactics, mainly because without a good amount of traffic you’re dead in the water online.

Who’s It Right For?

Initially I would have said this was too brief for complete beginners due to the thin content at the start of the written guide. However after getting to the videos section, I quickly changed my opinion and could easily see that virtually anyone with an internet connection, a desire to succeed and a few spare dollars for a domain name could make this work from start to finish.

Bad Points

The written guide could be better paid out and fleshed with more

content at the beginning, in order to help the complete beginner.

Good Points

Superb and generous content on getting traffic to your web pages, which leans more towards free methods for maximum profit. Great for anyone who is feeling a little misdirected or simply doesn’t know where to start with making serious money as an affiliate marketer online.

It has been quite a while since I have rated a product fairly high.
